So this is it, Day 24 of the bigmouthmedia SEO Advent Calendar. We are keeping it traditional and sticking with 24 days in an advent calendar as opposed to the 25 days and extra chocolate you get nowadays. You can read day 23 here.
If you have read all of our 23 previous tips and are reading this then I salute you and thanks for taking your time to do so. Even if you haven’t and only picked up on one or two I hope these gave some extra food for thought.
At bigmouthmedia we are passionate about SEO and know there are many like-minded people out there too. Whether you’re new to SEO or an experienced pro there has been something in the last 24 days for everyone from Gamification to understanding the basics of image optimisation and managing your seasonal content.
One of the key things any decent SEO should tell you is that SEO is not a standalone channel and miracles don’t happen overnight. You can’t also solely rely on SEO to solve all your problems. The best digital strategies entwine SEO with other channels such as PPC, usability, social, display, offline activity… I could go on.
If you work client side, for yourself or with another agency you need to be asking yourself what else are you doing on and offline and how is this going to impact what you want to do and how can you help each other.
Future of SEO
As both day 3 and day 23 discuss, SEO is continually changing and will continue to develop into something where the lines distinguishing SEO from the likes of social media will blur even more. If you are smart you have already realised this and your strategies reflect this shift, if you are new to SEO then this is genuinely an exciting time for any SEO to be involved in digital marketing and the opportunities are well beyond the ‘good old days’ of directories, articles and as many links as you can possibly get your hands on. If you start thinking about these other channels and future search trends then you are on the right path.
From bigmouthmedia we’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and look forward to 2012 being another exciting year in the world of search.
